Because of the roadworks on the A8, a lot of traffic is currently diverting through Raubling. Many of us experience this every day on the way to work, to school or to the shops. This map makes visible where traffic backs up and at what times: not felt, but measured.

What if …? The paper mill planning game

Distribute the 18 hectares of the former paper mill among logistics, commerce, retail, housing, sport or green space and see how much additional traffic would arise, when and where – alongside today's measured situation.

How the traffic map works

How it works: Every 15 minutes the current speed is retrieved and stored for every road section in the municipality. In addition there are the surrounding areas up to about 2.5 km around the municipality with their main roads – that is the A8 and A93, federal, state and district roads as far as Aising, Pang, Rohrdorf, Neubeuern, Brannenburg and Bad Feilnbach –, because congestion there directly affects Raubling. The data comes from anonymised movement data from navigation devices, smartphones and connected vehicles (so-called floating car data, provider: TomTom). No persons or individual vehicles can be identified in it. Measurement has been running since 2 October 2026.

  • Point in time: Choose a day and slide through the times of day, or play back the day with ▶.
  • Period: For example, analyse all weekdays between 3 pm and 7 pm and see where traffic regularly backs up. The map is then coloured by how often there is congestion, and the panel shows a list of the roads where traffic backs up most often. Tapping an entry shows the spot on the map. Closed roads, for example at the railway underpass, are marked separately and do not count as congestion.
  • Click a road: Shows the speed, the speed in free-flowing traffic and the daily pattern.

Green means free-flowing traffic, red means congestion, measured against the usual speed in free-flowing traffic on that section. The data shows speeds, not the number of vehicles. All information without guarantee. Please note: the map itself is currently only available in German.

A8 roadworks near Rohrdorf: Between Rosenheim and Rohrdorf the bridge over the Rohrdorfer Ache is being replaced. Until probably 20 November 2026 the A8 is restricted there, at times with only one lane in each direction. Measurements from this period are marked on the map. This will later make it possible to compare traffic in Raubling with and without the roadworks.

New: In the Paper mill planning game you can play through how much additional traffic different uses of the former paper mill site would generate – right next to today’s measured traffic situation.
